Hurrah: the wait is almost over. Topshop’s most exciting launch yet – a brand new all-singing, all-dancing mega-store in the heart of London’s Knightsbridge – is opening its doors to the capital’s most fashionable tomorrow.
The 14,000 sq ft boutique-style store has been designed with New York Topshop (which opened last year) in mind. Covering three floors, it boasts a groovy modern art metal sculpture stretching from ground to roof, the latest Kate Moss collection and sneak previews of exclusive collections by hot young designers. The mainline, footwear and accessories collections will also be stocked, alongside the Unique and Boutique lines.
And if all that seems a wee bit intimidating how about getting your very own personal shopper to guide you through via the store’s complimentary personal shopping service, Topshop PS? What is not to absolutely love about all that? We’re bang on it.
70 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, London, SW1. Call 0845 124 1144 for personal shopping.
Ever wanted free style advice from a top industry professional and how about a complimentary makeover thrown in too? Sounds like we’re onto a winning combo here… Mirror Mirror by SHOWstudio.com is a unique project featuring an interactive mirror installed on the Ground Floor of Topshop’s Oxford Circus flagship. Customers visiting the store between 5th and 9th May will receive a complimentary makeover at the Topshop Make Up counter and clothing advice from Topshop Stylists.
As if this wasn’t enough they will then be invited to pose in front of a magic mirror to find out what top industry gurus like Victoria Young, Susie Lau, Emma Summerton, Alice Hawkins and Fred Butler think of their look. (Fashion and style tips will scroll across the the mirror, tapped in by experts from the comfort of their home or studio.) What fun! And to top it all off, images of customers will then be popped onto Facebook so users can share their piccies with friends.
Heaps of lovely sheer and nude-coloured tops and dresses, funky track pants, lovely lace effects, underwear as outerwear… and much more. What’s not to like?
Launching on 6th January is Ann Sofie-Back’s gothic-inspired Topshop collection. The seven-piece strong collaboration focuses on slashed jersey t-shirt dresses and tops.
Then it’s hurry hurry 3rd February: not least because London Fashion week will be at fever pitch, but also because we’ll be able to get our mitts on designer Ashish’s punktastic capsule collection. Ashish commented on the collaboration, “Studs and spikes were a big part of my mainline collection this season, and it felt right to carry that through in some way for my range for Topshop. I love the contrast between soft sweatshirt fabric and metal spikes – it’s classic sportswear meets punk.”
Both Ann Sofie-Back’s and Ashish’s collections will be available in Topshop stores in Oxford Circus, Liverpool and Manchester Arndale, as well as Selfridges in London, and online.
So it’s nearly time to say tatty bye to the noughties and get excited about what the teenies have in store. Looking ahead to high street giant Topshop and colour and print master Jonathan Saunders’ 2010 offerings gives a suitably exciting futurist fashion fix. Saunders’ five-piece denim and devoré collection hits Topshop stores: Oxford Circus, Liverpool and Manchester Arndale, as well as Selfridges in London, and online on 20th January. Happy days.
Denim pencil skirt, £50, and matching cropped strapless basque, £40, (in panelled denim dyed in three different jean colours)
All hail the revival of culottes. Suddenly we’re thinking they’re pretty cool…
Limited edition Kate Moss for Topshop Culotte Jumpsuit, £100 at Topshop.com.
Hurrah for Topshop! From Thursday 11th – Sunday 14th June each time you spend over £50 in selected stores nationwide you’ll receive one of these cute floral fancies (it’s actually a potted African Violet plant but we thought floral fancy sounded better). Of course, the perfect purchase to go with your plant is this fun daisy playsuit, £45, and a pair of these neon pink heart-shaped sunglasses, £15, both at Topshop.com. How bloomin’ marvellous.
The second phase of Kate Moss’s SS09 Topshop collection is going on sale in stores tomorrow and from the sneeky previews we’ve seen so far it looks pretty gorgeous. Encapsulating the perfect holiday wardrobe pieces are rich in texture, heavily embellished and exotic-looking. Three main prints feature throughout – ‘blue leopard’, ‘coral zebra’ and ’swirl’ and designs are more sophisticated and chic than Kate’s usual signature playful ditziness. What’s not to lust-after?
Seeing Kate Moss looking super-stylish in a bright green maxi dress at the opening of Topshop New York has sent us in maxi-fuelled tizz searching for our faves for the summer season ahead. Top of our wish list is this one-shoulder Philosophy Di Alberta Ferretti colour block dress, £830 from Net-a-porter.com. But for something a bit more credit crunch friendly, this Topshop Richard Nicoll number perfectly exudes designer chic at a lovely jubbly £55 price tag. Both embrace the very ‘now’ trend for colour blocking.
With a distinct nod to the 80s – as seen all over the spring/summer catwalks – Topshop’s spring/summer collections are as funky and trendsetting as ever. Which look takes your fancy?… StyleJunkee will be coveting the sophisticated hot pant outfit. Of course, when we don’t want to flash our pins (ie. nippy spring days), we’ll be sporting the all-in-one harem pant look. Happy days!
According to newspaper reports out today, Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green has been ‘courting’ singer Christina Aguilera to design a clothing range for the high street store. So, we’ve gone from Cheryl Cole to Christina Aguilera… whoever next for the Topshop celeb-designer rumour mill?
I’m lusting after this Tartan Peplum Jacket, £55 at Top Shop. Encapsulating two key looks for autumn/winter – checks and military detailing – it’ll see you through from late summer to late winter and will look great dressed down with jeans and heels or dressed up with a plain tiered mini skirt (another key trend for the coming season). It’s very Vivienne Westwood don’t you think?
