Channel this season’s oh-so-cool 80s trend with Guerlain’s Le 2 De Guerlain Waterproof Mascara. In a gorgeous ocean-blue colour it’s brand new and features not one but two brushes - one for your lower lashes and one for the upper lashes (of course). £21.53 at Guerlain counters nationwide, including House of Fraser, Harrods and Selfridges.
We’re loving the look of Chanel’s new limited-edition London Madness collection. Featuring gorgeous red shades of Rouge Allure and Le Vernis, and this Pearly Banner Palette - an ivory, silver and gold highlighter stamped with the Union Jack flag. £52, exclusively at Selfridges in May and then nationwide from July.
La Prairie’s new anti-ageing miracle cream, Cellular Cream Platinum Rare, launches today in department stores nationwide, and we’re hoping for big shakes (well, at £600 a pot it better be pretty damn good…). This rich day and night formula promises to instantly leave skin smoothed, hydrated and radiant, whilst also combating age-related issues like fine lines and lost firmness. Available at department stores nationwide, including House of Fraser and Selfridges.
Gucci’s latest fragrance addition is a grown-up twist on a traditional floral scent. Top notes mix fresh citrus and peony and a deodorant spray, body lotion and shower gel complement the line-up. Available exclusively at Selfridges and Harrods, from £22.
Selfridges don’t do things by halves - the luxury department store have just unveiled a £1,000 chocolate Easter egg. Containing a Gold Bullion Britannia coin set, worth £900, the egg is made to order from a choice of either Venezuelan, Madagascan, Colombian or Caribbean chocolate and decorated with 18-carat gold leaf. Sod the credit crunch then…
US-based beauty brand 3Lab is, next month, launching a £195 anti-ageing miracle cream made from the stem-cells of rare Swiss apples. According to its website 3Lab “utilises the highest-grade of botanical ingredients and advanced ’state-of-the-art’ scientific technologies to contest the forces of nature and time”. Ooo la la. Can’t really argue with that, can you? The cream’s fancy sounding ingredients certainly seem impressive enough - take Phyto-CelTec Malus Domestica, Anti-Cyto Stressor, Happybelle and Nano-Claire GY for example - but whether or not it’ll actually slow or halt the ageing process is up for debate… Try it for yourself at Selfridges from next month.
Knock off two spring/summer trends in one in these fabulous Loewe rose and storm lizard with napa ruffle shoes. (That’s ultra-tall heels and frills for the fashion unenlightened…) We love ‘em. £750, at Selfridges and Harrods.
Wigs are in vogue: it’s official. Halle Berry, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland all have them, designer Marc Jacobs wore one recently for a photoshoot, Britney loves her shocking pink meltdown number and Pixie Geldof is frequently seen posing in hers… but, more to the point, the fashion pack are now in on the act, and stores like Harrods and Selfridges have seen the classic syrup ‘de fig’ selling like hot cakes. Move over Grandma, we’re onto something here… We love this show-stopping platinum blonde effect, £155.61, from Hairware.com and Selfridges.
3LAB’s hormone-infused Perfect Mask has sold out a week after being launched for the first time in the UK. And it’s little wonder really with such a star-studded list of devotees (Kate Hudson, Jennifer Lopez and Helen Mirren are all fans of the anti-ageing face mask). Containing the bio-engineered human growth hormone, Nano-Claire GY™, Perfect Mask is said to leave skin perfectly glowing, achieving the same effect as an hour-long facial in just 10 minutes… But don’t fret, there’s a waiting list for the product at Selfridges and the next shipment is due in soon. At £75 for six sachets let’s just hope it’s worth it. See 3LAB.com for more details.

The rest of the collection will be available from Net-a-porter.com and Harrods from the start of January. Stella McCartney has added a lingerie line to her collections and top of our lust-have list is this floral print undies set, made from organic cotton. Bra, £85, and briefs, £45, available at Net-a-porter.com, Selfridges, Harrods and Liberty.
Peaches Geldof’s capsule collection for PPQ has arrived in store at Selfridges and we’re loving it. Having been described by Peaches as incorporating elements of ‘Gothic and dark’, you’d expect the designs to be far edgier and perhaps less appealing than they actually are. In fact, they’re totally wearable and cool. ”I have always been in love with everything PPQ designed. It got to the point that I knew the PPQ aesthetic so well that it was a natural progression to begin working together,” said Peaches. Right on… and keep up the good work we say!

The latest beauty treatment to be causing a buzz by those in the know is Steven Victor’s Bio-Nutritive Luxury Cream. Clinical results lay claim to it producing a 36% reduction in wrinkle volume and a 98% reduction in the surface occupied by deep wrinkles… All sounds pretty good to us. £120 at Selfridges.
Oh.. and while we’re on the subject of denim, the next big thing in jeans (now remember this name – I guarantee you’ll be hearing it again in the coming months) is April 77. It’s a kooky little French label that has thus far produced some of the most rocktastic skinnies around, and is, in fact, so rocking that it even has a record label linked to its name. Those in the know are tipping April 77 hotly for cult label status in the not so distant future. Daniel Jenkins is the first UK shop to stock April 77’s jeans online but they only have a very limited selection of stock and you’d probably be better off checking out the range in Selfridges.
Snake venom face cream is the latest in anti-ageing beauty treatments and, since going on sale in Selfridges last week, it’s been a massive hit, flying off the shelves at at the rate of 50 tubs a day. If you ask me, it all sounds a teensy bit unnecessary… Incorporating synthesised snake venom (which mimics the effect of a snakebite of course), skin is left ’stunned’ after application - as it would be if attacked by the reptile. Got that?! The effect is apparently similar to that of Botox, lessening wrinkles and leaving the muscles that cause creases paralysed. Anti-ageing Skincare Technology Daily Moisturiser by Planet Skincare, £60, available at Selfridges on online from Planetskincare.co.uk
Do you love the smell of coffee so much you’d like a coffee scented candle? Hmmmm…. Those caffeine crazed bods at Nespresso (the luxury portioned coffee innovator) clearly think you do and have just invented a line of coffee fragranced candles to prove it. The company worked with renowned perfumer Olivia Giacobetti to capture the profiles of the regions their coffee comes from so the end result is the business… as far as scented candle excellence goes, that is. The five scented candles cost £27 each and are available at Nespresso boutiques at Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge, Harrods, Selfridges and online at Nespresso.com
