Vol de Jour - a short film by Karl Lagerfeld
What a shame Karl Lagerfeld persists with directing - someone advise him to stick to what he does best please. This short film/undercover ad - featuring a Bonnie and Clyde-style pairing of model-of-the-moment Lara Stone and Chanel’s male muse Baptiste Giabiconi - shows so much promise but fails to deliver on every level. The idea is there (well, sort of), but the execution is terrible: bad music choice, bad acting, bad cameraman… we could go on. And all we really wanted was to get a good butchers at the scrummy spring/summer 2010 collections. Still, at least it shows how easy it is to steal from Chanel??!

Wig you like

Wigs are in vogue: it’s official. Halle Berry, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland all have them, designer Marc Jacobs wore one recently for a photoshoot, Britney loves her shocking pink meltdown number and Pixie Geldof is frequently seen posing in hers… but, more to the point, the fashion pack are now in on the act, and stores like Harrods and Selfridges have seen the classic syrup ‘de fig’ selling like hot cakes. Move over Grandma, we’re onto something here… We love this show-stopping platinum blonde effect, £155.61, from Hairware.com and Selfridges.

Alexa makes cover girl
![]()
Can that really be Alexa Chung (London’s hottest export) I see before me on the cover of Elle October issue? It sure as hell doesn’t look like her… From skull necklace making to Elle cover making - way to go! (The photos inside of her are fab too and there’s a great little interview in which Chung reveals her favourite secret London haunts… oh, and why Karl Lagerfeld is her number one fan.)

Rap attack

It’s official: Karl Lagerfeld loves rap. Yes, that’s right rap. And the proof is in the pudding - or rather this photograph from the latest issue of American Harper’s Bazaar. Posing in a pair of Phat Farm jeans and statement t-shirt, the French designer takes off the rap look surprisingly easily. The photograph is part of a special portfolio of designers, including Giorgio Armani and Roberto Cavalli, all of whom have been pictured living out their fantasies… and rap is clearly Lagerfelds. Well why not?
