Gap to sell online in the UK

Having previously only sold and shipped online within the US, Gap are braving the e-commerce wilds of the UK and… wait for it… 63 other countries. Whoop de whoop… what took them so long?! Plus, they’re even setting up shop in China. And as if this wasn’t enough good news for web-savvy fashionistas Zara are also launching a fully transactional website on 2nd September and H&M on 16th September. Whatever next.

H&M launch new organic beauty products

H&M Organic skincare beauty
H&M has just launched its first ever range of skincare with certified organic ingredients and, having carried organic cotton garments for some time, it seems like a natural progression for the high street retailer. The range offers everyday essentials at budget prices, including shower gel, body scrub, body lotion, hand cream and lip balm. All are certified by Ecocert and choc-full of yummy natural and organic ingredients like organic almond, jojoba and beeswax. Our fave is the organic body scrub which not only smells divine but contains organic apple juice and apricot seeds to work out impurities and leave the skin feeling silky smooth. Prices from £3.90.

 Jimmy Choo for H&M

9am, 14 November: mark that date in your diary in thick black marker girls… it’s the date Tamara Mellon’s latest collection for H&M arrives in store and we predict mass hysteria of epic proportions. Well Jimmy Choo’s for as little as £79.99 are undoubtedly worthy of fashion mania. Aside from towering, super-chic heels, expect slinky one-shoulder dresses, jumpsuits, leather leggings, crystal-covered dresses, embroidered tops, sequined cardis, on-trend studded and fringed evening bags and clutches, and cuffs, bracelets and chokers to die for. Whether all this designer doing it on the cheap for the high street stuff waters down the brand or not is up for debate. We ladies at StyleJunkee thinks perhaps it does – but we’re far from complaining. Here’s a sneak preview vid.

 2009: bring it on!

StyleJunkee Chanel Hussein Chalayan 2009 H&M

StyleJunkee is super super super excited about 2009 and for three stonkingly good reasons – Chalayan, Williamson and Chanel:

1) Hussein Chalayan (that’s MBE, twice-crowned British Designer of the Year Hussein Chalayan)’s Design Museum Retrospective (from 22 January). A fashion and style lover’s must-do.

2) The April launch of Matthew Williamson (Red Carpet Designer of the Year)’s capsule collection for high-street fave H&M. Somehow we just know that spring/summer is going to be one long festival of colour and floaty hippy-chic.

3) The upcoming release of not just one but two Chanel biopics. Coco Avant Chanel, starring the very lovely Audrey Tautou and focusing on Coco’s early life… and William Friedkin’s Coco & Igor, about the designer’s relationship with Stravinsky.

 Comme des Garcons at H&M

Comme des Garcons at H&M

Here at StyleJunkee we’re mega excited about the forthcoming launch of H&M’s Comme des Garcons collection. The Japanese label is usually known for kooky cuts and shapes, but they’ve obviously tamed things down a little for the high street, and the outcome is totally wearable. Featuring clothing for men, women and children, as well as accessories and a unisex fragrance, fashionista can expect elaborate tailoring, knits and fitted shirts. Oh… and actress Katie Holmes has already been pictured wearing key pieces, so, if A-list approval is what you’re after, look no further. Prices from £14.99, available at H&M from Thursday 13 November.
