Wigs are in vogue: it’s official. Halle Berry, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland all have them, designer Marc Jacobs wore one recently for a photoshoot, Britney loves her shocking pink meltdown number and Pixie Geldof is frequently seen posing in hers… but, more to the point, the fashion pack are now in on the act, and stores like Harrods and Selfridges have seen the classic syrup ‘de fig’ selling like hot cakes. Move over Grandma, we’re onto something here… We love this show-stopping platinum blonde effect, £155.61, from Hairware.com and Selfridges.

Next time you’re in Harrods and you fancy a spot of refreshment, why not swing by the new Veuve Clicquot bar? Ok, you’ll need to be feeling indulgent but a bit of bubbly before, during or after tackling the Christmas crowds is surely the least you deserve?

You’d never believe this bronze highlighter was £160 would you? It’s by Rock and Republic and is almost the cost of a pair of the brand’s iconic designer jeans. (I’m thinking I’d rather spend my wonga on the latter!) With two ‘formulas’ in one compact, this little baby includes a bronzer (that apparently works for all skin tones) and a highlighter with a shimmery finish… Accentuate Bronze Highlighter in Private Jet available exclusively at Harrods.

Hey, big spenders - here’s one for you: the ultimate bottle of perfume. It comes in a gold-plated bottle, it costs a tidy £2,000 and it’s launching in Harrods next month before being made available at selected stores nationwide. Love by Ralph Lauren is being pitched by the brand as a ’super premium’ scent aimed at ‘high spending power’ women. Right oh… I’ll be reporting back just as soon as I’ve got my bottle.

Do you love the smell of coffee so much you’d like a coffee scented candle? Hmmmm…. Those caffeine crazed bods at Nespresso (the luxury portioned coffee innovator) clearly think you do and have just invented a line of coffee fragranced candles to prove it. The company worked with renowned perfumer Olivia Giacobetti to capture the profiles of the regions their coffee comes from so the end result is the business… as far as scented candle excellence goes, that is. The five scented candles cost £27 each and are available at Nespresso boutiques at Beauchamp Place, Knightsbridge, Harrods, Selfridges and online at Nespresso.com

Why bother going to see West End musicals when you can see snippets of the best of them at Harrods? Starting next month, the luxury department store will be hosting a series of mini performances from West End shows including Mamma Mia, Chicago and Avenue Q. There will also be performers from the English National Ballet and television show Strictly Come Dancing. According to Harrods officials the idea is to “entertain shoppers amid the doom and gloom on the high street”.

A month ago StyleJunkee brought you news of a revolutionary first in the beauty industry - Estée Lauder’s vibrating mascara: TurboLash All Effects Motion Mascara. This high-tech magic brush vibrates at a speedy 125 micropulses a second to help create volume and separate the lashes… And the wait is over folks because Harrods have just become the first to exclusively stock it. We StyleJunkee girlies were lucky enough, this weekend, to have a sneak preview and can report that, yes, it’s definitely worth raving about. Once you master the technique (which admittedly does takes a few attempts), you’ll not look back. The vibrating wand is, oddly enough, especially good for those with slightly unsteady hands and its in-built gel formula is great for lengthening and coating the lashes, making them look thicker and more separate. All round it’s a winner. £28 at Harrods.

Oh dear.. further to my posting of a couple of days ago about Martha Stewart hosting afternoon tea and a talk about her new Wedgwood dining collection at Harrods on 26th June, StyleJunkee has learnt that the former jailbird is banned from Britain because of her criminal convictions. Apparently she was also due to give a talk at the Royal Academy and had various meetings set up including with Jasper Conran - but that’s all been cancelled. How embarrassing… Never fear though, we’ll all still be able to buy Martha’s new Wedgwood line at Harrods - it’s exclusively available at the store until October 2008.

How about an exclusive champagne afternoon tea at Harrods and a chin wag with American homemaking icon Martha Stewart? For £45 you can do just that on Thursday 26th June. During the afternoon the former jailbird will be hosting a talk on the inspiration behind her new range of china, crystal and cutlery designed in collaboration with Wedgwood. What’s more guests will each receive a Wedgwood Martha Stewart goody bag to take home. So… if I were you I’d go simply for the yummy tea, the gift bag and, of course, to ask Martha what it was like in prison… Click here for more information, or, to book a ticket, contact the Wedgwood department at Harrods on 020 7730 1234 (ext. 2375).
