Sneak preview of Elizabeth Arden’s summer beauty line-up
StyleJunkee popped along to Elizabeth Arden’s summer product launch on Friday where we were treated to a rather fab sneak preview of the gorgeous goodies the luxury beauty brand are launching from May onwards. Our favourites have to be the two limited edition 100 year anniversary products (see below): an iconic Limited Edition Lipstick in Red Door Red, £18, available at House of Fraser from May, and a fabulous Limited Edition Scented Candle, £25, available at John Lewis from May. The lippy is a complete classic in a glamorous gold case, and the candle comes in a porcelain canister portraying scenes of stylish ladies outside the Elizabeth Arden building in New York - definitely a collector’s item.
Also launching in May is a pretty neat capsule-based product (see below) that contains single dose pure Vitamin C - simply pop a capsule, rub its contents onto the skin and leave the radiance-boosting Vitamin C to work its magic. Genius, huh? Intervene Skin Tone Perfecting Capsules, £34, will be available at larger Boots stores and selected department stores from May.
… And there’s more… Elizabeth Arden’s first ever sun protection face cream (see below) - Eight Hour Cream Sun Defense for Face SPF 50 - will also be available from May in larger Boots stores and selected department stores.

L’Oreal’s new anti-wrinkle cream: Youth Code
Ten years in the making, and harnessing revolutionary genetic technology, L’Oreal’s latest (and much-awaited) anti-wrinkle cream ‘Youth Code’ launches on Thursday. And it’s set to fly off the shelves… Scientists from L’Orèal’s research laboratories in Clichy and Hùpital St-Louis, Paris, claim the cream will help ‘re-set’ your skin’s own genetic code making it look instantly younger. At just £14.99, it’s definitely worth a pop. Available at Boots and department stores nationwide on 21st January.

L’Oreal Paris new True Match Roll’on Foundation
It might not be the most glamorous piece of make-up kit but L’Oreal’s new True Match Roll’on Foundation is certainly worth checking out if only for the novelty factor. Featuring a miniature paint roller for applying the foundation with, it’s a pretty quirky invention and, gimmicks aside, it does do the trick effectively enough giving ultra-fine coverage to all the right areas. £12.71, at Boots.

Autumn’s hottest colour for nails and lips: plum
This season’s ‘it’ colour for nails and lips is plummy purple, as seen here by Revlon… But whether or not you can get your hands on the hot new colour is another matter. The covetable new shade is proving to be a sell-out success with beauty brand Revlon barely able to keep up demand since the shade was seen on catwalks for autumn/winter. Autumn/winter 09/10 trends: The 80s and power-dressing
Do Dynasty and Dallas-style fashions and you won’t go far wrong – autumn/winter 09/10 is all about the return of the power-dresser (… and why not? We’re all for a bit of power in uncertain times). Shoulders are totally super-sized, rounded or architectural, hair is big and bouffant, and just about everything else is OTT and inspired by the era of dear old Maggie Thatcher.

Beauty best seller
Apparently Boots’ Aqueous Cream has become an overnight best seller as the credit crunch sends people reaching for cheaper beauty essentials. Boots have revealed that some stores are having trouble keeping up with demand, ordering 10-12 tubs a day just to keep it on the shelves. Starting at £3.99, it’s clearly budget-friendly and you can hardly question its versatility - the cream can be used as a moisturiser, shaving cream, shower gel and even on chapped and dry lips… There’s just something so unglamorous about it - but, hey, who are we to argue with the wants of the masses?

Boots to go
Here’s a reason to visit Colchester (as if you need one!): the town now boasts the UKs first ever drive-through Boots store. Way to go! On the site of a former drive-through McDonalds, the store will apparently act as a pilot scheme and, if it’s successful, similar drive-throughs will be opened up countrywide. According to the manager of the Essex store, ’it works just like a restaurant drive-through. You take your prescription up to the first hatch, put it in, the information is checked and then the items are dispensed at the second window, without leaving the car’. Customers will also be able to take advantage of Boots photo printing and buy make-up and fragrance.
