Swede clarity: Muuto’s Wood lamp is another fine example of great Scandiwegian design

Scandiwegians are all blonde, eat herring, and sit in saunas all day. Except presumably they occasionally take a break from steaming – and from being so lazily stereotyped – to create the pared-down products they’re so famous for. The latest bit of Nordic loveliness is this Wood Lamp by Muuto, £149 from Skandium, and it really is as simple as it is visually stunning. You may not live in a bleached-wood warehouse overlooking a fjord, but this light will help you feel like you could.

A load of hot air: even balloons are chic at Bouf.com

If you thought silly games were just for children, you’ve clearly not been to a garden party in recent years. Dressing up, organised fun – they’re de rigeur for the former-festival goer who’s now settling into grown-up life in Notting Hill. And with their wittily opulent chandelier motif, these balloons, £6.99 for three from Bouf.com, are ideal for the obligatory game of Pass-the-balloon-from-person-to-person-without-using-your-hands.

Out on the tiles: Mibo’s collection of tile tattoos

As someone going through the long and painful process of getting a tattoo removed from my arm, I can tell you that permanent body inkage is never a good idea. Mibo’s tile tattoos, £12.15 per pack of ten, however, are a brilliant style update. Instant 70s chic – and easily peeled off when you get bored.

A bug’s life: Barbara Coupe’s creepy crawly cushions

Rentokil is reporting a rise in infestations because more people are going abroad and unwittingly bringing unwelcome visitors back with them in their luggage. Sometimes, though, bugs pop up in such a way that nobody calls the exterminator. A couple of years ago it was Lou Rota with her beetle-motif plates, and now it’s Barbara Coupe’s hand-embroidered cushions, £55 each.

Put your feet up: The Conran Shop launches a slouchy new chair

It’s apparently “a beanbag chair that sits and fits like a glove” but it’s the name of this new chair, £995 from the Conran Shop, that we’re loving so much. Yep, it really is called the Lazy Bastard. Since when did middle-England’s fave design shop get so sweary?

Claridges launches its annual Easter Egg

From March 13th, Claridges launches its annual Easter egg, £45, – and this time around the design has been inspired by the hotel’s own checkerboard lobby. They’re only making 100, and each one is filled with handmade truffles. Because sometimes, a bar of Dairy Milk just won’t do.

One of the grates: Conran Shop’s Well Considered range is as fun as it is functional

The ethos behind the Conran’s Shop Well Considered range is that of good, simple, and affordable design. It includes some wonderfully sensible classic wine glasses, and a pair of perfectly solid Bentwood chairs, but it’s this bonkers cheese grater light, for a mere £29, that we’re fawning all over.

Just a little crush: High street store Dwell raises the bar for the new season

Quietly taking over the high street, Dwell has become the stealth budget brand for interioristas in the know. What’s not to love about these teal drawers, £579, that look like they just rolled out of the Milan Furniture Fair? Or the “Just a little something I picked up in Murano” blue glass lamp, only £79? Or even the “Yeah, my mate Zaha Hadid rustled this up for me” coffee table, £229? *moves into nearest branch and sets up camp*

Starck contrast: Philippe’s new Zikmu iPod speakers for Parrot

Love him or hate him, Philippe Starck keeps on churning out designs that are aesthetically pleasing, if not totally practical. And his latest offering is the Zikmu for Parrot, £1000 – just place your iPod on top and it wirelessly plays through the megaphone-like speakers. It’s not out until April, and review samples are not available yet, so who knows whether they actually work? They do, however, look very sleek.

Norse code: Menu collaborates with Pernille Vea and Alexander Hasnaoui for some tattoo-inspired designs.

Here at StyleJunkee we love a collaboration and this one’s a three-way. Firstly, Danish design company Menu commissioned Pernille Vea for the award-winning thermo cup – which keeps tea hotter for longer – and now they’ve asked artist Alexander Hasnaoui to give them a quick revamp. His four tattoo-inspired designs are called Faith, Hope, Love and Luck, and are £24.95 each.

Great danes: Busk + Herzog bring their latest designs to London

Danish designers Busk + Herzog have just relocated to Shoreditch from Copenhagen, for no other reason than that: “You find surprises every time you go for a walk.” The duo walked off with the Good Design Award – originally established by Charles and Ray Eames – in December last year for their clean-lined True Love sofa, £2,304, and we’re also loving the ice cream palette of their Lotus chairs, £1,280 each, all from Inform Furniture.
