Topshop spring/summer 2011 lookbook preview

Fancy a sneak peek at what’s coming up for spring/summer in Topshop? Yeah course ya do…

Overall there’s a gorgeously fun revival of British club-kid style going on and a groovy urban and boho mix. Check out the long printed skirts and colour-pop tights… Loving it… Models sport neon tinged hair (umm, perhaps we’ll leave that one to them) and silhouettes are long and lean, with plenty of super-high heeled boots and 70s-style cork wedges.

These are the four key trends:

1. Snake Valley
A new breed of festival girl has arrived, inspired by the 70s ‘Gypsy Rocker’ character embodied by Jimi Hendrix and Lenny Kravitz. Expect snake prints, python leather, and battered biker boots are mixed with Navaho flourishes, including fringing, feathers and tapestry detailing. The silhouette is sexy, but softened with a kaftan, or kimono and accessories have a ‘dress-up’ feel with feather headdresses.

2. Swedish Summer
Swedish Summer draws on the glamour of the 1970s era with luxe vintage-inspired pieces. Eclectic folk-inspirations see William Morris floral prints mixed with magpie elements like glitter and foil and homespun cotton crochets and laces are key. Accessories include floppy hats, clumpy clog shoes and floral hair garlands.

3. New Age Constellation
This modern take on classic tailoring incorporates urban sportswear in luxe fabrics. Flared trousers are paired with matching tees for a new style all-in-one, while shift dresses in sheer and solid fabrics are twisted with asymmetric hemlines.

4. Graduation
Taking the 1970s as inspiration, this trend features bold mix and match separates, clashing prints and pops of colour cover skinny rib tops, polo shirts, playsuits and cropped flared trousers. Skirts finish mid-calf and shapes are crisp, clean and simple. The vibe is young, irreverent, quirky and a wee bit geeky.
